Sitting in the Outback, eating bugs.

God I've been lazy. But I've decided to continue my record keeping.

Yesterday I was surprised by my other half with a little red bag. It also had something wrapped in plastic and paper that was apparently wet, and soaked the paper through.

Being the Chinee man I am, this could be anything (chicken legs, duck face, pork ass)... so I was a bit worried what it could be... but held my composure.

A revealing of the bag exposed about 6 giant sea cockroach looking things. Bay bugs. Now.. I've expressed my wanting to try this before on several occasions as it is usually served at fine dining places. Didn't expect those lil dudes to be sitting in a brown paper bag for me.

I was face to face with 6 of these... in a pot.. with no idea how to eat em. Don't forget that they look like giant roaches.

So of course, I turned to Google to figure out what the hell to do with it. I probably wouldn't have been as hesitant to tear em apart if they were called something else (apparently some places called them Bay Lobsters, which essentially they are), but no, they are called bugs most of the time.

But in the end... I managed to tear their heads off with a giant pitchfork and break their shells off. To reveal this meat that tasted like lobster and shrimp and fish combined... was pretty good. More than I can say for kangaroo meat. Another item to check off my to-do list. :D

And I'm out.
